JAMES SLATER
​James holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and the U.K. He enjoys a dynamic life, traveling between Atlanta, Miami, and various hiking trails across North America with his family and dogs.
James initially pursued a career in academia, earning a Master’s degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures with the intention of becoming a Russian literature professor. His path took a turn when he ventured to Russia, where he worked in the administration of a U.S. State Department program and as a Russian interpreter and translator. He further honed his expertise in Russian during the prestigious National Security Education Program’s Russian Overseas Flagship in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

Before founding his own practice, James honed his legal skills at various boutique law firms focusing on intellectual property and media law. His commitment to community service is evident from his role as co-director of a homeless legal advocacy project at Legal Services of Greater Miami and as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Chris M. McAliley in the Southern District of Florida.
James actively contributes to the National Police Accountability Project and has held significant positions such as a board member of the Dade County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section and as a Florida Chapter Chair of the Copyright Society of the USA. His excellence in legal practice has been recognized in the 2024 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America for commercial litigation.

Fluent in Russian and proficient in Spanish and Polish, James is also dedicated to mastering Mandarin, Japanese, and Turkish. When not immersed in languages or his legal career, he enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and rock climbing, as well as gardening, tai chi, playing guitar, and engaging in storytelling with his children.
