Francesca Witzburg is the Founder and Managing Partner at ESCA Legal. Inspired by a love of modern culture and design, she built a cutting-edge law firm dedicated to working with brands to protect and monetize their intellectual property in our digital age. Prior to launching ESCA, Francesca worked in the Manhattan office of Dentons, one of the world’s largest law firms. During the early stages of her career, she amassed in-house experience with a focus on brand protection work for brands like Prada, Tory Burch, and Diamonds International. In 2025, ESCA Legal was named as a Chambers Spotlight Intellectual Property firm, and Francesca has been recognized by New York Super Lawyers as a Rising Star and by Best Lawyers as “One to Watch.”

Francesca's business practice has evolved with the ever-changing intellectual property landscape. In addition to typical trademark and copyright filings, she has worked with clients to pursue litigation, register trade dress, conduct foreign filings, and develop comprehensive brand protection and enforcement strategies. She has represented global brands, renowned personas, and billion-dollar companies with precision, accuracy, and a client-first mindset.

Francesca has spoken at intellectual property conferences nationwide and has been quoted in Women’s Wear Daily, Law360, and The Fashion Mannuscript. In 2024, she launched ESCAPADES®, a one-of-a-kind intellectual property and brand protection conference that brings together subject matter experts across a multitude of industries, including fashion, entertainment, and art. Francesca also runs @thetrademarkattorney, where she discusses pop culture events through the lens of IP law to over 25,000 followers across platforms.

Francesca earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal, and graduated cum laude from Villanova University with a double major in History and Spanish. She is barred in New York, New Jersey, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, Northern District of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
